The holiday events just keep rolling --- or sailing --- along near all our SC vacation rentals, making them the perfect home base from which to catch the holiday spirit.

So if you happen to be here in one of our SC vacation rentals this coming weekend, be it a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston, you won’t have a lack of seasonal celebratory options. They’re quite family-friendly and appropriate for all ages staying in your Charleston beach house. Some will provide great local shopping opportunities for those left on your list, while others will help get you fully in the holiday mood.

Saturday, December 10th – Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant Holiday Market

It’s the annual Holiday Market and Craft Show. It takes place on the site of the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market Pavilion by Moultrie Middle School on Coleman Boulevard, and will go from 11:00 till 4:00. Local craftspeople will sell their wares, and there’ll be plenty of edible goodies available for purchase. There will also be fun things for the kids, like face painting, jump castles and visits with Santa.

This is especially convenient to all our Isle of Palms vacation rentals - just head over to Sullivan’s Island, then take the Ben Sawyer Drawbridge to Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant. It will be on your left. https://experiencemountpleasant.com/events/holiday-farmers-market/

Saturday, December 10th - Downtown (near our SC vacation rentals)

Charleston Holiday Market

Speaking of downtown, there will be a lot going on there as well. The famous Charleston Farmers Market has technically finished for its regular season… but fret not, for the next couple of weekends they’re having their special Holiday Market in Marion Square, the site of the normal downtown market. It’ll go on from 9:00 until 3:00 (Dec. 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th) and will feature more great gift options and gourmet food. http://www.charlestonfarmersmarket.com/about/

Holiday Fun at the Joe

Come out to “The Joe,” Charleston’s cool baseball park, and get in the holiday spirit of giving and fun in a party sponsored by the Riverdogs, Charleston’s team. There will be all sorts of exciting things for kids, like visits and photos with Santa Claus and Charlie Claus (who will be collecting Christmas lists, which is some serious business), games and crafts. They’ll also be showing the movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas” on the big video board.

It’ll happen from 3:30 p.m. till 6:30 p.m. with the movie starting at 5:00. The price of admission? $5, or free with an unused toy, which will be donated to the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Kids 3 and under are free. Joseph P. Riley Park is located at 360 Fishburne Street. Here’s more: https://www.facebook.com/chasriverdogs

Parade of Boats

Then Saturday night is the ever-popular (and quintessentially Lowcountry) Holiday Parade of Boats in Charleston Harbor. Ahoy, and Ho Ho Ho! Watch as folks sail or motor by in their brightly decorated and well-lit vessels. It starts about 5:30 p.m., and boats will go from Mount Pleasant through the harbor to the Ashley River. Good viewing spots include the Battery or Waterfront Park downtown. There will be a special catered (Sticky Fingers) and ticketed viewing party at the Charleston Maritime Center starting at 5:00 p.m; here’s a link with more info: http://www.charlestonparadeofboats.com/about-our-light-up-the-night-viewing-party/

Downtown Holiday Market AND Second Sunday on King

Then on Sunday, the fun continues on both sides of the Cooper River. Downtown, the Marion Square Holiday Market will be rolling again from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00. This Sunday is also the second Sunday of the month, so that means a special holiday edition of the wildly popular event, Second Sundays on King. Expect lots of carolers, holiday shopping, decorations and promotions, and of course the presence of the big guy himself, Santa.

It takes place on King Street from Marion Square to Queen Street and is an easy drive from all our luxury beach house rentals SC, be they Folly Beach rentals Charleston or our IOP rental homes South Carolina.

Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade

Then, on Sunday night, it’s the 21st annual Mount Pleasant Christmas Light Parade and Tree Lighting. It’ll kick off at Moultrie Middle School (645 Coleman Boulevard) at 5:30 p.m. with the lighting of the big tree and a fireworks show, followed by the parade at approx. 5:45. It’ll contain more than 100 floats that will travel down Coleman Boulevard past Pelzer Drive, over Shem Creek, then in front of the school before ending at the Sea Island Shopping Center around 7:15. Again, this is especially convenient to our Isle of Palms luxury rentals. https://experiencemountpleasant.com/events/christmas-light-parade/
