When you come to one of our rental homes South Carolina, be it a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston, chances are you are going to eat out.  After all, you’ve gotta feed the folks staying in your Charleston beach house, and extraordinary local restaurants abound.

In fact, Charleston cuisine is developing such a fine reputation that  — forget the beach  —  people flock to our beach rentals Charleston for the food alone.  (Witness the annual Wine + Food Festival which took place earlier this month:  http://exclusivepropertiesus.com/time-wine-food/).

Charleston restaurants frequently appear on top national rankings and best chef lists.

Recently, one of the highest honors in the culinary world  –  the James Beard Foundation Awards  –  announced their annual finalists.  Not surprisingly, Charlestonian chefs and restaurants are in the running for several top awards.

Finalists include:

FIG’s Jason Stanhope  –  Best Chef Southeast (especially impressive since he’s been executive chef there for less than a year)

FIG  –  Outstanding Wine Service

McCrady’s  –  Outstanding Wine Service

Husk’s Sean Brock – Outstanding Chef (their highest award for a chef)

Sean Brock  –  Best Cookbook

Sean Brock  –  “Mind of a Chef”  –  Best TV Program on Location

Winners will be announced on May 4th in Chicago, when Charleston food expert Nathalie Dupree  will be inducted into the Who’s Who of Food & Beverage in America.  Here’s a list of all the nominees:  http://www.jamesbeard.org/blog/complete-2015-jbf-award-nominees

Semifinalists from Charleston also included: Edmund’s Oast, Hominy Grill, Charleston Grill, Leon’s Oyster Shop (Ari Kolender), The MacIntosh (Jeremiah Bacon), Two Boroughs Larder (Josh Keeler), and WildFlour Pastry (Lauren Mitterer).

Should you wish to try them out and judge for yourself, the semifinalists, finalists and potential winners are convenient to all our SC vacation rentals, especially our Isle of Palms luxury rentals.

Speaking of Lowcountry food, Restaurant Week is an extremely popular event that happens twice a year, in January and September.  It’s a great way to sample some of the best cuisine that Charleston has to offer.  Here’s a link to a previous blog about how you can experience a similar taste sampling at area restaurants, at any time of the year:  http://exclusivepropertiesus.com/restaurant-week-year-round-plus-groundhog-concert/

So bon appétit… and when you are looking for beach house rentals Charleston SC, especially luxury beach house rentals SC, call EP.  Our Isle of Palms vacation rentals are the very best around.
