If you’re in one of EP’s beach rentals Charleston this weekend, there’s plenty to keep you occupied, despite the fact that Spoleto and Piccolo 2016 are now in the record books (where they are ranked as the most successful in the festival’s four-decade history).
One of the most popular things to do while staying in a Charleston beach house is to a read a book. Sure, there are more high-tech ways to enjoy a novel – kindle, smartphone, iPad, tablets of all sorts – but sand and electronics don’t usually mix very well.
When it comes right down to it, it’s hard to beat flipping the paper pages of a really engrossing story while taking in the sunshine and all its good vitamin D… either on the beach or while lounging on the deck of a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston.
If you’re in one of our SC vacation rentals this weekend, there’s a great opportunity to stock up your summer reading material – at a great price, and for a great cause. It’s the Charleston County Library’s annual summer book sale.
They have a huge assortment of fiction and nonfiction, paper and hardback, children’s books, CDs, DVDs and audio books, with prices starting at just $1.00 (and only 50 cents for children’s books). They accept cash, checks or credit cards, and proceeds go toward helping the public library do its good work for the community.
The sale takes place at the main, massive library branch downtown. It’s located at 68 Calhoun Street, about a 25 minute or so drive from all our rental homes South Carolina, both Isle of Palms vacation rentals and Folly Beach house rentals Charleston SC. It’s going on today till 5:30 p.m., tomorrow (Saturday, June 18th) from 9:00 a.m. till 5:30 p.m., then on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 till 4:00.

There are so many long-running festivals around these parts, many of which I’ve blogged about recently. Every so often a new or new-ish one pops up that looks like a lot of fun and just become the next local tradition.
Tomorrow is one such event. It’s the 2nd annual Brew Haha Festival, which is described as a “Celebration of Carolina Craft Beer & Comedy,” with a good bit of live music thrown in for good measure.
Here’s some of what’s in store at Brew Haha:
- Indoor and outdoor areas with craft beer from more than a dozen of South Carolina’s best breweries including Coast Brewing, Revelry Brewing, River Rat Brewery, Oak Road Brewery, Fat Pig Brewing, and several others;
- A special Beer Engineer HomeBrewer Garden;
- Award-winning comedy headliner Jeremy McLellan, as well as other stand-up acts including Mike Brocki;
- Local and regional bands, curated by the fine folks at Awendaw Green;
- A wide array of food vendors like Mellow Mushroom, Bay Street Biergarten, American Grill and Eat-a-Pita.
It’s going on Saturday, June 18th, from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center, a convenient drive from all our beach rentals Charleston.

In one of our beach rentals Charleston? Don’t forget Dad…
Just a quick reminder that this coming Sunday, June 19th is the day to honor dear ol’ DAD. Yes, Father’s Day is this weekend.
Here’s an interesting factoid – according to the National Retail Federation, the average a person in the USA will spend on celebrating dad is $126, which represents a 9 percent jump from last year. Most common purchases include power tools, outings to a ballpark or restaurant, clothing, gift cards, sporting goods, electronics, auto accessories, music, books, and home improvement or gardening supplies.
Total spending is expected to reach an all-time high of $14.3 billion. That seems like a lot, although it still pales in comparison to what we spent on mom on Mother’s Day — $21.4 billion.
If you’re in one of our beach rentals Charleston on Sunday, Dad gets a break at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum. He’ll get free admission to the Yorktown and other ships in the complex. It’s open from 9:00 a.m. till 6:30 p.m…. here’s more: http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20160615/PC16/160619603
So grab a book and a brew, tell Dad how much you love him, and remember to call EP when you’re looking for the very best in luxury beach house rentals SC, especially Isle of Palms luxury rentals.
