It’s January, which means it’s time once again for Charleston Restaurant Week.

It’s a twice-a-year event that also happens in September.  Charleston Restaurant Week generally takes place right after the peak season of summer and the holidays, which is traditionally the slow time of year for restaurants.  But it also means it’s a chance to score some good deals.  It’s a lot like our luxury beach house rentals SC, in that respect.

This semi-annual event offers special prix fixe menus at some of the best restaurants in the Holy City.   It’s a chance to try out two, three or even four course dinners or lunches at very popular spots.

COVID has thrown a wrench into just about everything, so it’s good news that Charleston Restaurant Week is moving ahead at all.  Restaurants in general have been having a very tough time during the pandemic.  They’ve been grappling with restrictions on indoor capacity, social distancing, face mask and sanitation requirements.

Charleston Restauraunt Week 2021

Therefore it comes as no surprise that Charleston Restaurant Week January 2021’s format and scale is a bit different from times past.  Not as many restaurants are taking part, which in the past has approached 150 or so.

But the good news is, several have added the option of curbside takeout or even delivery options.  These include those establishments under the Queen Street Hospitality umbrella, like Florence’s Lowcountry Kitchen and Jalisco Taqueria & Tequila.  Also offering takeout are Hall Management Group, which includes Halls Chophouse downtown Charleston and in Nexton, SNOB (Slightly North of Broad) and High Cotton.  A Halls spokesperson had this to say:  “Restaurant Week is available to-go at all HMG properties, including Halls locations.  Guests may place orders by calling each restaurant and picking up curbside.”

Other restaurants taking part include: 39 Rue de Jean, 5 Church, 82 Queen, Anson Restaurant, Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar, Bourbon & Bubbles, Butcher & The Boar, Circa 1886, Coast Bar and Grill, Coastal Provisions, Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse, Delaney Oyster House, Élevé at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston, Fleet Landing, Gabrielle of Charleston, Hank’s Seafood, Grace & Grit, Hyman’s Seafood, Indaco, Le Farfalle, O-Ku, Oak Steakhouse, Poogan’s Porch, Poogan’s Smokehouse, Rutledge Cab Company, Saffire Restaurant, Stars Rooftop Bar and Grill Room, The Macintosh, Vicious Biscuit, Virginia’s on King, Wild Common, and many more.

Restaurant Week is going on now through Sunday, January 17th.  You can find all the participating restaurants as well as links to their menus at the official Restaurant Week website.
