Charleston, South Carolina is a perennial favorite on “Best of” and “Top Ten” lists, be they for the South, the whole country or even the planet.
Just this summer, yet another one was announced… and it’s impressive, if we do say so ourselves.
Drum roll please…
Charleston is the Best City in the United States!
What’s even more remarkable? 2024 is the 12th year in a row that the Holy City has won the title.
Votes were cast by the savvy readers of Travel + Leisure Magazine, to determine the winners of their World’s Best Awards 2024. For the Best City category, voters based their choice on several criteria: sights and landmarks, culture, food, friendliness, shopping, and value.
Here’s some of what they had to say about our beloved city:
“‘Charleston can compete with any European capital for its arts, entertainment, active lifestyle, and food,’ said one voter. Many visitors noted that they had come to the city several times for different types of trips, such as couples’ weekends, family vacations, or friends’ getaways, and that they found new things to experience each time. Another reader chimed in that Charleston was, ‘a great example of a city that holds to their roots, but also strives to be current and welcoming to everyone.’”
Why, thanks, y’all!
Where to stay in Charleston?
If you’re planning to come visit the best city in the U.S., you may be on the hunt for Charleston home rentals.
Travelers have come to realize the benefit of having a whole house to yourself, so you, your friends and family can relax, stretch out, and feel at home away from home. Cooking meals together can often be a great bonding experience, especially when it takes place in a gourmet kitchen.
While you could stay in downtown Charleston, you’d have to deal with the issues of a city. There’s noise, traffic, people walking all around, plus parking can be a problem in a historic and popular place like Charleston.
A better option - head instead to the Charleston SC beachfront.
One very cool thing about Charleston is that you can easily combine the charms of the city with the beauty of the beach.
How? By staying on the Isle of Palms. The IOP, along with other barrier islands like Sullivan’s and Folly, are where Charleston’s beaches are located. They’re just a short drive from the historic downtown peninsula.
And of all the islands, the Isle of Palms has the best and most plentiful options of Charleston beachfront rentals, by far.
EP on the IOP
Exclusive Properties’ extensive portfolio of luxury Charleston beachfront homes here on the Isle of Palms is the crème de la crème. They’re some of the top rentals on beach in South Carolina.
In fact, as I covered in this blog, one of Exclusive Properties’ oceanfront homes - Port of Call at 3400 Palm Boulevard - was named one of the top 11 vacation homes in the United States and Mexico by VRBO. That’s out of a total of more than two million properties.
With its prime beachfront location, sweeping decks and ocean vistas, 46-foot in ground pool, chipping green, private boardwalk to the beach, elevator, and 11 bedrooms and 11.5 baths, Port of Call will house up to 28 people (not counting children under two). Plus, it’s even pet-friendly!

Brand New: Beachfront Sanctuary
We’re thrilled to introduce a gorgeous oceanfront home that’s recently constructed and added to EP’s portfolio.
Beachfront Sanctuary is located at 3900 Palm Boulevard, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Right off the bat it stands out with its unique, elegant architecture. The round “turrets” on the front hold the master bath and a circular nook perfect for reading or a private conversation. It’s mirrored on the back by the large round porch with plenty of space to relax, watch TV, or catch the wide beach vistas and ocean breezes. Private pool, elevator, stylish décor, gourmet kitchen, high end finishes, all the bells and whistles are here.
Be sure to read all about Beachfront Sanctuary and see more photos, she’s gorgeous.
And just give us a call/email/chat when you’re ready to book a beautiful beachfront rental in Charleston.
All best,
