If you’re a Charleston beach house aficionado, you probably know all about the Cooper River Bridge Run.

It’s a bit funny, here we are still in peak season, the prime time for Isle of Palms vacation rentals, when time in a Charleston beach house offers a delicious taste of the waning days of summer.

Labor Day is this coming Monday.  The weather was a little sketchy today with Tropical Storm Hermine visiting from the Gulf of Mexico  –  but she is fast headed out of Dodge, and the rest of the weekend is looking to be perfect for hitting the beach… especially nice if you are staying in one of our oceanfront SC vacation rentals.  It’s just a quick stroll from your beach house Charleston down to the sand, coffee cup in hand.

And yet it’s not too early to be thinking about the 2017 Cooper River Bridge Run.  Word to the wise: if you are planning to run or walk it, better make plans to book your Isle of Palms luxury rentals or your beach house rentals Charleston SC on Folly, ASAP.   It’s one of the busiest times of the year for beach rentals Charleston, and the sooner you call, the better a luxury house on Isle of Palms you can get.

The 2017 Cooper River Bridge Run is gelling…. date: April 1st.   It’s a milestone in the history of one of the country’s favorite 10Ks  –  this will be the 40th running of the race.

The official poster has been chosen.  It’s a happy image, which subtly includes the number 40, hidden in the shape of the bridge tower and the shining Carolina sun.  (See above.)  Here’s more on the poster, along with a video about its unveiling:  http://abcnews4.com/news/local/video-new-cooper-river-bridge-run-poster-unveiled

A Charleston beach house is an ideal way to experience the race.  It’s a great gathering place for your whole group, a perfect place to carb up beforehand and kick back afterwards.

While all our rental homes South Carolina are convenient to the race, a luxury house on Isle of Palms may be your best bet since it’s a bit closer to the start line, which is in Mount Pleasant.

Here’s the official website, where you can get all the details and register for the race:  http://bridgerun.com/

FIREWORKS ON FOLLY near your Charleston beach house

If you are in one of our rental homes South Carolina this holiday weekend, keep your eyes to the skies for fireworks.  The Fourth of July fireworks show was cancelled due to inclement weather and high tides, so they’ve decided to celebrate Labor Day weekend instead.  The show’ll start about 9:00 p.m. this coming Sunday, September 4th, at 3rd Block West on Folly.  Center Street will be blocked off for pedestrians only before and after the fireworks.  There will also be loads of live music in various venues around the island during the afternoon and evening.  Performers will include:

  • –  Jamisun (rock/reggae) at Blu
  • –  Sunflowers & Sin (Americana), Jaykob Kendrick (rock/Southern rock), and TimeBomb (party covers) at Loggerheads
  • –  Teresa “Sweet T” Parrish (“good times” music) and Rick Martinez of The Shakin’ Martinis at Planet Follywood
  • –  Soul Fish Duo (multi-genre covers) and Green Thieves (Americana) and BYOG (rock/blues/funk) at Rita’s Seaside Grill
  • –  Hed Shop Boys (classic rock/powerpop) at the Sand Dollar Social Club.
