April is a glorious time to be in the Lowcountry, and there’s no shortage of events going on this time of year near your Charleston beach house.

If you’re here in one of our beach rentals Charleston, either a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston, you’ll “have your pick” of some great options.

As I mentioned in a previous post, area farmers markets are opening and there’s an abundance of fresh local produce to sample.

In that spirit, the Lowcountry Strawberry Festival is a local favorite and it’s coming up this weekend.  After all, it features fresh-from-the-field deliciousness and is packed with family-friendly activities ideal for all ages staying in your Charleston beach house.

It’s going on this Thursday evening, April 20th through Sunday evening, April 23rd.

The festival is an annual event put on by the good folks at Boone Hall Plantation, one of the Lowcountry’s preeminent locales.   It’s convenient to all our SC vacation rentals, especially our Isle of Palms luxury rentals.  From our Isle of Palms vacation rentals, just cross the IOP Connector into Mount Pleasant, then take 17 North.

You can’t miss it, it’s up a short ways on your left on 17 (address: 2330 N. Hwy. 17, Mt. Pleasant). Please note: for the Strawberry Festival, enter from Highway 17, not the main entrance to Boone Hall Plantation which is located on Long Point Road.

Speaking of Boone Hall, yes it is a major tourist destination with the famous Avenue of Oaks, plantation home and grounds steeped in 330 years of history.  As I covered in that last BLOG, it just hosted a huge Easter service under the big tent, near where scenes of the beloved movie The Notebook were filmed.  It’s also the site of major annual events like the Lowcountry Oyster Festival and Taste of Charleston.

Boone Hall is also a working farm.  In fact, it’s one of the few places in America that have been producing crops continually for over three centuries, on over 100 acres tucked in the middle of booming Mt. Pleasant.  The cool thing is that locals and visitors alike can enjoy the bounty.

They sell their fresh produce at the Boone Hall Farms store, just north up Highway 17 on the right.  It functions as a year-round farmers market, specialty food/gift store and cafe.

So enjoy some local Lowcountry fresh goodness.  And as always, remember to call EP when you are looking for rental homes South Carolina.  Our beach house rentals Charleston SC are without peer.  Click HERE for a full list of our luxury beach house rentals SC.
