If you’ve chosen to come stay in one of the many SC vacation rentals this summer, you made a wise choice.

As if you need more reasons to stay in rental homes South Carolina, like our Isle of Palms vacation rentals or Folly Beach rentals Charleston   –  other than the charming scenery, great culture and natural beauty, that is  –  well, the Palmetto State once again has the lowest prices in the country for gasoline.

The price of a gallon of regular unleaded in South Carolina dropped three tenths of a cent last week, and is now averaging around $1.83 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.</p<

Nationally, average gas prices during the month of July dropped 16 cents per gallon.

Gas prices have been in the news a lot, as I covered in THIS blog, and THIS one.

GasBuddy’s senior petroleum analyst Will Speer had this to say: “As prices continue to fall in the heart of summer, motorists have been able to take advantage of the cheapest summer prices in over a decade. Demand for gasoline continues to surge as low prices have spurred more road trips and have swayed consumer vehicle purchasing habits.”

A lot of different factors affect gas prices, such as time of year, weather, refinery issues, or even skirmishes and wars around the globe.

Right now, as we’re gradually heading toward Labor Day and the end of peak season for beach house rentals Charleston SC, prices tend to drop due to a switch to cheaper blends in the fall.  There is also currently a glut of oil in the market; gas inventory is up 11.8% from this time last year.  Many analysts predict gas prices to drop even further, and surely near our SC vacation rentals.

It’s quite a change from how things have been.  If you came to one of our Isle of Palms luxury rentals last year, you were paying almost half a dollar ($0.44 to be exact) more per gallon of gas that you are right now.

So save on the petrol to come stay in a Charleston beach house, and spend it on something more fun instead…. like an even bigger luxury house on Isle of Palms.
