This high honor was bestowed by what is arguably the top name in the vacation rental business, VRBO.

May 25, 2023, ISLE OF PALMS — VRBO just announced its “Top Vacation Homes of the Year,” – the best eleven properties in the United States and Mexico – and a beachfront home on the Isle of Palms has made the coveted list.
The eleven winners were selected from among VRBO’s portfolio of over two million private vacation rental properties.
“Port of Call,” located at 3400 Palm Boulevard on the Isle of Palms, is the only home in South Carolina and one of just three from the South to make the list. It’s managed by the local family-owned company, Exclusive Properties, based on the IOP.
Other winners are located in California (Palm Springs), New York (Montauk), Arizona (Phoenix), Texas, Florida, Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, North Carolina, and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
VRBO, aka Vacation Rentals By Owner, made the announcement from its headquarters in Austin, Texas. Selection was based on the following criteria: having a rating of 4.9 stars or higher, the quantity of guest reviews, status as Premier Hosts who provide superior guest experiences, outstanding amenities, and ample space to gather with family and friends.
Here’s how VRBO describes Port of Call - “… a grand, oceanfront home boasting phenomenal views of the water and located only half an hour from Charleston, making it a perfect spot for exploring the best of South Carolina’s coast. Inside, spacious living areas with large windows offer a relaxing place to rest after a day in the sun.”
Port of Call has plenty of room to gather plus elbow room to stretch out, just steps from the Atlantic. With 7,000 square feet of living space plus 1,500 sf of porches and decks, it’s designed for family reunions and beach vacations with friends and loved ones. The gourmet kitchen with Thermador appliances, three ovens and granite counters provides the perfect place to come together for a feast of fresh local seafood.
Each of the eleven bedrooms has its own private full en suite bathroom, with an extra half bath for good measure. Port of Call can sleep up to 28 people (or as many as 34, if they’re children under two years of age). It’s ideal for several generations to all stay together under one roof. Luxurious extras include an elevator, 46-foot Sportsman in-ground pool facing the ocean, fire pit, outdoor wet bar, ping pong table and even a private chipping green.
