Good news still keeps coming down the pike, as gas prices continue their steady drop.
Nationally, gas prices fell to an average $2.02 per gallon of regular unleaded as of this past week. The price is expected to fall below the two dollar mark this week.
The average in South Carolina is already well below that mark — it’s $1.85 per gallon, having fallen 2.1 cents in the last week. That’s 27.5 cents lower than just one month ago, and $1.23 lower than this time last year. It’s yet another reason to stay in rental homes South Carolina… some of the lowest gas prices in the nation.
If you’re staying in a luxury house on Isle of Palms or one of the Folly Beach rentals Charleston, here are links to a couple websites that track gas prices here in the Charleston area:

Valentine’s Day Economics
Believe it or not, Valentine’s Day is the fourth largest spending season of the year. The top shopping times are, in order, Christmas, back-to-school time, and Mother’s Day. Easter comes in at #5.
According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, consumers will likely be spending 6% more on Valentine’s Day 2015 than they did last year.
Apparently, they’re planning to spend an average of $142 on dinner, candy, flowers, jewelry, apparel, getaways, gift cards and other gifts – this compared to an average of $134 in 2014. Men spend about twice what women do — $191 versus $97, on average.
Hey – what you save on gas, you can spend on goodies for your loved ones!
Here’s a breakdown of average Valentine’s Day spending by age group:
Adults 25-34 $213
Age 35-44 $176
Age 18-24 $169
Of course an excellent way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is to take a romantic getaway to Charleston and stay in a Charleston beach house… one of our Isle of Palms luxury rentals or a Folly Beach house Charleston. Rates for SC vacation rentals are much lower than they are in the summer, plus you have a better selection of available luxury beach house rentals SC, especially our Isle of Palms vacation rentals.
Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, so restaurant reservations will be especially tricky, and you’d better book early. Also, one caveat — this year, Valentine’s Day falls on the same weekend as SEWE (the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, the biggest draw to the Lowcountry). So if you are interested in beach house rentals Charleston SC for that weekend, call as soon as possible.
