Well, following along the heels (or flippers) of that last blog, Yawkey the rare leatherback turtle has been safely returned to the waters off the Isle of Palms, and all is right with the world.
Today is Saint Patrick’s Day, and hopefully you are wearing green and thus not apt to be pinched by random people. If you’re here staying in one of our SC vacation rentals, especially one of our Isle of Palms vacation rentals, you may want to head over to Dunleavy’s Pub for an authentic Irish celebration. It’s located in the commercial district of nearby Sullivan’s Island, just over Breach Inlet from our Isle of Palms luxury rentals.
Dunleavy’s is well known to many as “party central” for the New Year’s Day Polar Bear Plunge, and this is their other big day of the year. It’s an especially good outing for the more adult folks staying in your Charleston beach house. Word to the wise – I definitely recommend wearing green.
Speaking of what you’re wearing… today is the kickoff of yet another hot Charleston event, FASHION WEEK.
It’s running today through March 21st, and the 9th annual installment, officially dubbed the Baker Motor Company Charleston Fashion Week, is packing in a slew of happenings.
The festival began in 2007, and like many big new events in the Lowcountry, it seems to grow in size and quality each year. It’s a great place to spot rising stars and the latest sartorial trends. One of the most anticipated events is the 2015 Emerging Designers Top Design competition, which includes 25 semifinalists, some of whom are competing as part of a team.
Fashion Week events are headquartered in and around Marion Square in downtown Charleston, a convenient drive from all our beach rentals Charleston, be it a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston. Basically, each evening there’s an event in the Belk Tent at 5:00 p.m., the Style Lounge opens at 5:30, and the Runway Shows start at 7:00. Saturday’s schedule is a little different, with the Spring Bridal Show and Lounge kicking things off in the morning, and evening events happening at 6:00 and 8:00. The latter is the finale runway show, where the winner of the designer competition will be announced.
Tickets for the runway shows range in price from $45 to $95, and included in the price are pre-party access at the Style Lounge with cash bar, hip DJ entertainment, and entrance to the clothing, accessories and jewelry retailers at Marion Square.

The Post & Courier’s Charleston Scene also has good coverage, including more bio information on the emerging designers: http://www.charlestonscene.com/
If you did book one of our luxury beach house rentals SC this week, you picked a great time to come. The weather’s hot – in the 80’s – and the fashion is, too.
So have a happy St. Paddy’s… and when you are looking for rental homes South Carolina, namely beach house rentals Charleston SC, give EP a call.
