Well, the city of New Orleans (and probably the entire state of Louisiana) has been going nuts this week, as Tuesday is its biggest party of year — and that is saying something.
But just because you’re not in the Big Easy doesn’t mean you can’t join in the celebration.
If you happened to be in one of our SC vacation rentals – especially a Folly Beach house Charleston – you can experience how the Edge of America celebrates Mardi Gras, culminating in a giant street festival and parade Saturday. The events are going on all week (see previous blog for the details).
Well, if you’re in one of our luxury beach house rentals SC right now, you might want to catch some of the fun going on downtown. It’s Mardi Gras at The Alley – a hip (really!) bowling alley just off Upper King Street.
They’ll be having live jazz music by the band Unit Four and a Cajun-inspired special menu the night of Mardi Gras itself, Tuesday the 17th. Games of bowling and classic can beers are just $2 each, and hurricanes are $5. They’ll be staying open until 2:00 a.m.
Here’s a link to their official site: http://thealleycharleston.com/
The Alley is located at 131 Columbus Street, an easy drive from all our rental homes South Carolina, be they Isle of Palms vacation rentals or Folly Beach rentals Charleston.
If you’re in one of our Isle of Palms luxury rentals and don’t feel like driving very far for dinner, the Isle of Palms Methodist Church (the cute white church in the dog leg of Palm Boulevard) is having a Pancake Supper Tuesday night (the 17th) from 5:00 till 7:30. It’s hosted by Boy Scout Troop 502 as a fundraiser for their summer trip, so come on out and support a good cause.
The church is located at 12 21st Avenue, just up the street from the Harris-Teeter shopping center…. just a stone’s throw from your luxury house on Isle of Palms.
Speaking of good causes…
In case you feel like bringing home the ultimate souvenir from your stay in a Charleston beach house… the kind that promises to bring a lifetime of love into your home… the Charleston Animal Society is offering a special the entire month of February. It’s called “Pawdi Gras” – and for only $17, you can adopt an adult dog.
It’s a great deal, because included is: spay/neuter, vaccinations, a microchip, heartworm test and flea preventative.
The Charleston Animal Society is a great group that is working toward becoming the only primary no-kill shelter in the Southeast. Their modern and lovely new facility is located at 2455 Remount Road in North Charleston; it’s just off Interstate 26. Here’s a link: http://www.charlestonanimalsociety.org/
