Taste of Folly

Folly Beach has its own particular vibe, as each of the barrier islands does.  Folly has a laid-back surfer scene… plus plenty of restaurants and bars.   This is a good weekend to check out the latter.

Friday kicks off the fun with the Taste of Folly Cocktail Competition, going on from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. in the Pavilion Ballroom of The Tides, located on the beach at the base of Center Street.  Folly’s finest bartenders will concoct their best drinks, and you get to vote for your favorite.  Tickets are $25 advance or $30 at the door, and the event is for those 21 and over. 

Then, it’s Savory Saturday, the Taste of Folly Street Festival that completely takes over Center Street.  It’s family-friendly and lasts from 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m.

They have a bunch of fun things planned, like...

• Over 45 craft, food and fashion vendors on Center Street;
• Cooking demonstrations from favorite Folly restaurants;
• Hot Dog Eating Contest with prizes;
• Oyster Shucking Contest;
• The ever-popular Server Olympics;
• Live music on two stages (East Erie and Huron Avenues);
• Multiple Kids’ Areas for the younger set, including pasta making, Good Clean Fun with their Pots & Pans Percussion, giant inflatables and more.

Also, be sure to grab a Taste Passport and scan it as you go to participating spots, for a chance at great prizes like stays on the island, restaurant gift carts, golf cart & kayak rentals and more.

Admission is $10 advance or $15 the day of.  You can purchase tickets online via the website.  Folly residents and kids 12 and under are free.
