If you find yourself in one of our Isle of Palms vacation rentals this weekend, you have an extra-abundance of great ways to feed the fine folks staying in your Charleston beach house – whether it’s a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston.
As I’ve blogged about recently, we’re right in the midst of oyster season in the Lowcountry. Oyster roasts are a time-honored local tradition that brings all manner of folk together around a steaming heap of delicious mollusks.
Of course the biggie is coming up this Sunday — the annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival, the largest one in the world, taking place at Boone Hall Plantation. Read more about it HERE.
Boone Hall is convenient to all our SC vacation rentals and especially our Isle of Palms vacation rentals. From our Isle of Palms luxury rentals, just cross the IOP Connector, head north on Highway 17, and turn left at the light. This Sunday the weather report looks clear and cool – great weather for an oyster roast.

Free Food Truck Festival near our Isle of Palms vacation rentals …
But first, coming up tomorrow is a cool way to sample some of the most cutting edge cuisine in Charleston.
Charleston cuisine is hot, eating local is hot, and food trucks are megahot. Tomorrow (Saturday, January 28th) you can experience all three at the sixth annual Charleston Food Truck Festival.
They have a new tagline – “Epic Eats. Bangin’ Beats. Tipsy Treats.” This event continues to get more and more popular, and as a result, they have moved to a much bigger venue and have extended the hours of the festival.
Get set for:
- More than 30 different popular food trucks gathered in one place – both local and some from “off”… including Savannah, Beaufort, Raleigh and Atlanta;
- Plenty to peruse or purchase from 20 craft vendors;
- Many beverage options from craft beer vendors or Stems & Skins wine bar;
- A mechanical bull, plus plenty of kids’ activities (jump castle, face painting, balloon artist);
- Live music from headliners the Dead 27s, plus Red Cedar Review, Reckoning (Grateful Dead tribute band), Travelin’ Kine, CHA WA based in New Orleans, and The Broadcast from Asheville;
- Free admission; VIP tickets available to skip the lines;
- Grab a gourmet lunch or dinner, since the year the festival will run from 11:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m.;
- Where? At Park Circle, 4854 O’Hear Avenue, North Charleston, convenient to all our luxury beach house rentals SC and Isle of Palms vacation rentals;
Then there’s Taste of Folly, not too far from our Folly or Isle of Palms vacation rentals …
Speaking of Saturday, get set for the annual Taste of Folly, where you can sample some of the best that Folly Beach has to offer. These “Taste of…” festivals have become a reliably fun way to experience local cuisine in towns and cities across America.
This was originally scheduled to take place last Saturday but was postponed due to weather – so tomorrow, January 28th it is.
Get set for the big Taste of Folly street festival on Center Street. They’ll close it off to vehicular traffic, so restaurants and bars can take over and strut their stuff. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. In addition to local culinary & beverage offerings there will also be a hot dog eating contest, a chili cook-off, the Server-lympics, a date auction, large silent auction, over 50 local vendors, and live music by Dallas Baker & Friends and Me & Mr. Jones. There’s no charge to attend, and proceeds help worthy causes. This’ll be especially fun and convenient for anyone staying in Folly Beach house rentals Charleston SC.

FYI, There’s been a Center Street redesign, not far from our Folly or Isle of Palms vacation rentals…
By the way, this comes at a great time since Folly Beach has just recently redesigned Center Street, improving its flow as well as pedestrian safety. Taste of Folly will mark the official kickoff of the new design, and Center Street will be closed to vehicles from 9:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. for the event.
Instead of a four-lane road as it has been in the past, Center Street, the “gateway to the city,” now has three lanes – one in each direction, plus a designated turning lane. Each lane is now 12 feet wide, as opposed to just nine feet wide in the past.
So happy eating, whether it’s oysters or a taste of something else. And when you are looking for rental homes South Carolina – namely, beach rentals Charleston – call EP for the very best selection. Our Isle of Palms vacation rentals are the best in the biz.
