If you happen to be staying in a luxury house on Isle of Palms this weekend, get set for a fun laid-back time when you can mingle with the locals – aka folks who call the IOP home.
As I mentioned in last Friday’s BLOG, you can hear great music at the Shaggin’ on the Cooper series, which has cranked up for the summer at Memorial Waterfront Park under the Ravenel Bridge on the Mount Pleasant side. It’s convenient to all our SC vacation rentals, whether you’re in one of our Isle of Palms luxury rentals or a Folly Beach house Charleston.
But you don’t even have to leave the island to have a fun time involving live music in the great out of doors. Tomorrow is the latest installment of a relatively new music event. It’s taking place on the Isle itself, right near our Isle of Palms vacation rentals.
Check out Music in the Park…
It’s called Music in the Park, and here are the particulars….
• Saturday, May 6th from 1:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m.
• Live music by….
River Boy (https://www.riverboymusic.com/) – “an all-acoustic band based in Charleston, SC blending original Bluegrass and Americana tunes with traditional ones…” – playing from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Then, playing from 2:30 p.m. till 4:00, it’s Bluegrass by YeeHaw Junction (http://www.yeehawjunction.net/
• Conveniently located in the middle of the island under the pavilion at the Recreation Center. It’s at #24 – 28th Avenue, Isle of Palms;
• Local food trucks Charleston Caribbean Cuisine and Miracle’s Tasty Express will be on hand to provide refreshment and vittles, along with popcorn and Italian ice vendors;
• You’re encouraged to bring a blanket or beach chairs to enjoy the afternoon, just down the street from many of our rental homes South Carolina.
There’s nothing like a little live music and some good local food on an island to set a nice mood. Here’s the scoop: http://www.iop.net/music-in-the-park
If you have kids staying in your Charleston beach house, the IOP Rec Center also has an awesome playground right near the pavilion (as well as soccer and baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts), so the kids can play while you enjoy the music.
Vote for the hottest firefighter, whether you’re staying in a luxury house on Isle of Palms or not
One of the most creative (and successful) fundraising events around Charleston has also been one of the most fun. It benefits one of the most deserving of area charities – the local animal shelter, the Charleston Animal Society. More specifically it directly contributes to Toby’s Fund, which pays the medical expenses for injured or abused animals.
It’s the Charleston Animal Society’s Firefighter Calendar, which has been a major hit, especially when it went viral a couple years ago. People were buying them all the way from Australia and other far-flung parts of the globe.
The calendar features really HOT firemen (and women) posing with dogs and cats from the shelter – rescues, get it? It’s hard not to like the images of a super-buff handsome brave guy rescuing a tiny kitten. I mean, it’s all good.
Well, they are choosing the firefighters for the 2018 calendar right now. Now’s your a chance to vote for your favorite(s). For a donation of just $10 minimum per vote, you can vote as many times for the one(s) you like best and wish to see in next year’s spread. There are 26 firefighters competing for 15 spots. Of course, all the money raised goes to help animals in need, near all our beach rentals Charleston.
All donations are tax deductible. The voting ends this coming Wednesday, May 10th, at 9:00 p.m., so get crackin.’
Their goal is to raise $80,000, and right now they’re at $55,142.00. Here’s where you can see the 26 options and pick your fave: https://charlestonfirefightercalendar.com/product-category/voting/
So vote for your favorite hot firefighter, enjoy some live music with the locals, and when you are looking for beach house rentals Charleston SC, call EP. Our luxury beach house rentals SC are the best around.
