Charleston International Airport (CHS) is flying high, and soon you will have even more choices when flying to stay in a Charleston beach house. CHS is the busiest airport in the state.  According to Paul Campbell, CEO of the Charleston County Aviation Authority, CHS is the second fastest-growing airport in the U.S.  Only Love Field in Dallas is growing at a faster rate. You can’t be named the top place to visit for the last umpteen years running without seeing some immediate effects, and growth is one of them. Demand for SC vacation rentals is higher than ever, be they Isle of Palms luxury rentals or a Folly Beach house Charleston.  The rest of the nation and the world have discovered the Lowcountry.  Of course a Charleston beach house makes the ideal home base for a visit here. Such kudos and attention also have a way of spawning improvements to the travel infrastructure. Many of the folks coming to stay in our rental homes South Carolina, either Isle of Palms vacation rentals or Folly Beach rentals Charleston, arrive here by plane.  CHS, or Charleston International Airport, recently underwent a massive $200 upgrade and overhaul.  The results are a marked improvement that make jetting to the Holy City more pleasant than ever. The airport has been in the news a lot lately, as more and more airlines fly in and out of Charleston.  Each time a new airline comes to Charleston we all get more options of routes to fly here, more competition, and lower airfares.

A new way to fly to your Charleston beach house

Well, it was just announced this week that yet another one will soon be offering service to CHS. It’s Frontier Airlines, based out of Denver.  Not only will they be offering some interesting nonstop destinations in and out of Charleston, they will also be offering really amazing rates.   I’m talking $39 and even $34 one-way introductory fares.  Frontier's motto is “Low Fares Done Right,” and they provide customizeable ticket packages to save customers money. Frontier jet Service will include:

  • Nonstop to Denver and Philadelphia on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays beginning February 20th;
  • Nonstop to Chicago O’Hare on Mondays and Fridays beginning May 11th.

Flights will be aboard an Airbus single-aisle A320 aircraft that seats 186 passengers.. Helen Hill, CEO of the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and a board member of CHS, had this to say: "Additional access to our region from the important markets announced today gives our industry a great opportunity that we will seize.  We strongly believe that Frontier Airlines will enjoy early success in Charleston.” Here’s the scoop from ABC News 4.  So, soon you’ll have even more options for getting to our luxury beach house rentals SC. Mega goings-on near your Charleston beach house

Charleston Museum has been undergoing a massive renovation, and you can see the grand unveiling of all that work this weekend. This Saturday, September 23rd, it’s the Grand Opening of the Bunting Natural History Gallery, and it looks to be a lot of fun.  Think: dinosaur bones and other cool creatures you just don’t see every day. Here’s how they describe it:

Come celebrate the opening of The Charleston Museum’s Bunting Natural History Gallery with a special event! Get your picture taken in a set of Megalodon jaws.  Stand next to a Giant Ground Sloth.   Compare your wingspan with that of the largest flying bird that ever lived, Pelagornis sandersi. Be one of the first to see this new exhibit hall, with spectacular displays, fascinating fossils, animal mounts and geologic materials from the Museum’s extensive natural history collections, and unique interactive experiences. Special presentations, crafts, a face painter, a scavenger hunt and more will create a day full of learning and fun.
