Party with a Purpose near our beach house rentals Charleston SC

Even though Mardi Gras was the day before Valentine’s, the celebration seems to go on and on.  Tomorrow (Saturday) February 24th is the 14th annual Parrot Head Mardi Crawl.  It’s sponsored by the Lowcountry Parrot Head Club, which encourages you to come “party with a purpose.” In fact, in honor of this very popular event, Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie has officially declared February 24th as, “Lowcountry Parrot Head Day.”

Get your Parrot Head on

You’ll go from one restaurant to the next, to answer a trivia question, enjoy food & drink specials, interactive games and live music.  It’s all to 1) have fun in a very Buffet-esque island way, and 2) to help out several great charities.  They include the Alzheimer’s Association, Pet Helpers, the Ronald McDonald House, Hospitality Heroes, HALOS and Toys for Tots. The fun’s happening on and around Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, an easy drive from all our SC vacation rentals.  From your IOP beach house Charleston, just head over to Sullivan’s, cross the Ben Sawyer Bridge over to Coleman.  Look for the next bridge over water.  That’s Shem Creek.  It’s a very scenic spot with shrimp boats, dolphin watching, a great park with boardwalks out to the water, and plenty of fun spots for food and libations.  If you have a dog staying with you in your luxury house on Isle of Palms, you can bring him or her with you to the outdoor seating areas.  Red’s Ice House is a particularly pet friendly place. Participating restaurants/locales include: Red’s Ice House, RB’s, Vickery’s, The Wreck, The Shelter, and Shem Creek Bar & Grill. You can either walk or take a water taxi from one venue to the next. At Red’s, you’ll hear live music by Taco Donkey and Saluda Shoals.

The fun kicks off tonight, near our beach house rentals Charleston SC

The fun actually extended through the whole weekend. The parrot-heading kicks off tonight with a pre-party at RB’s, DJed by Gerry Scott.  That’ll happen from 6:00 till 9:00 this evening, Friday the 23rd.  There’s more live music at Red’s tomorrow night after the crawl, by the Three Sheets Island Band.  That has Jimmy Buffet written all over it.  Then Sunday caps off with a post-party brunch at Shem Creek Bar & Grill. Registration for the Crawl begins at noon at Red’s Ice House (98 Church Street), and the event starts at 1:00 p.m.  Tickets are $25 advance at $30 at the event.  Here’s more info at their website. Here’s the event’s Facebook page and the Lowcountry Parrot Head page.   I have a hunch you may hear some Jimmy Buffet music and have a chance to drink a margarita if you go  -  both of which happen to go great with our beach rentals Charleston. So enjoy – and remember, when you are looking for rental homes South Carolina, namely luxury beach house rentals SC, to call us here at EP.  We’ll place you and your loved ones in the perfect one of our many wonderful beach house rentals Charleston SC.   All best, Lowcountry Lisa your Isle of Palms vacation blogger
