Here’s yet another great reason to head this direction to stay in one of our SC vacation rentals – yet again, the state of South Carolina has the cheapest gas in the nation.
Gas prices fell slightly overall during the past week – 4.4 cents per gallon in South Carolina, bringing the average price to $2.05 per gallon in the state, according to GasBuddy.
This is quite a bit better than the national average, which is $2.30 per gallon. The US average price fell just 3.2 cents during the past week, a smaller drop than we saw here in South Carolina.
Gregg Laskoski, a senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy, says the price drop is a result of the refineries “unloading winter-blend gasoline at ‘fire sale’ prices.”
Although gas prices have dropped significantly during the last couple years, it’s still a significant budget factor in travel. It pays to try and find as many ways possible to save. By choosing to come to one of our rental homes South Carolina, either a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston, located here in the great state of South Carolina, you’ve taken a good first step.
Here’s more on the current state of gas prices from the Post & Courier: http://www.postandcourier.com/business/s-c-gas-prices-fall-slightly-still-lowest-in-nation/article_fc879042-e17a-11e6-8ad2-b3d752013a3d.html
How to find the best gas prices near our SC vacation rentals …
Once you get here, gas prices can vary widely around the Lowcountry. They tend to be a little higher on the islands, closest to our beach rentals Charleston, either our Isle of Palms vacation rentals or our Folly Beach house rentals Charleston SC. Prices in West Ashley are generally a bit lower. Several stations in Mount Pleasant, just over the IOP Connector from our Isle of Palms luxury rentals, offer pretty good prices.
According to the Post & Courier, as of yesterday the cheapest Lowcountry gas was $1.89 in Goose Creek; the most expensive was near Kiawah Island at $2.26 per gallon.
Local TV news station Live 5 News has a good free smartphone app; it has a helpful option that tells you who has the lowest gas prices in the area. They also have a map on their website that’s constantly updated and pretty accurate, in my experience. Here’s a link: http://www.live5news.com/category/194924/gas-prices
There are a couple other ways to save even more on gas. Since you’re going to want to stock the kitchen of your Charleston beach house with groceries, why not save on gas while doing so. When you shop at BiLo and sign up for their FuelPerks program, you earn money off the price of each gallon of gas at participating stations. On occasion I have gotten 30 cents off per gallon during a fill-up, a nice savings.
Now’s a good time to call EP for the best in luxury beach house rentals SC… where the gas is cheap(er), the people are friendly, and you’ll also score some good off-season rates on our SC vacation rentals!
