More on CHS

As I blogged about recently, the Charleston International Airport is flowing and going in a big way.   It’s currently undergoing a massive $189 million renovation that will make it easier and more pleasant than ever to fly in and out of Charleston.  Above is a rendering of one of the renovated terminals, complete with massive central skylight and clerestory.

The number of carriers is also growing.  Currently, you can fly in and out of CHS on Delta Air Lines, US Airways, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and JetBlue Airways.  Service to Toronto begins this month on Porter Airlines, and next month will see service to and from Florida on Silver Airlines.

Well, the latest counts are officially in, and the Charleston International Airport has set an all-time record for the number of travelers flying through.

A whopping 3.13 million people came in or out of CHS in 2014.  It’s the first year ever to top the 3 million mark, and it’s a 7% increase over the previous year.  Surprisingly it also marks a 55% increase since 2010.

Here’s what Paul G. Campbell Jr., director of airports for the Charleston County Aviation Authority, had to say: “We are fortunate that Charleston International Airport continues to grow and has the support of the community and the passengers that choose us and the airlines that operate here for their flying needs.”

If you’re flying in to one of our luxury beach house rentals SC, you’re in good company… and the trip will only get better as the improvements kick in.

So happy bidding/flying, and remember to call EP when you are looking for the best in rental homes South Carolina.

All best,
Lowcountry Lisa
