Vacationing in Charleston, SC? Are you a tennis fan? Then visiting The Family Circle Tennis Center should be on your bucket list! It’s a public tennis facility that earned Charleston the award of Best Tennis Town in America. Whether you’re a tennis expert or the racket still feels unfamiliar in your hand, there’s a lot to enjoy at the Center. There’s plenty of activities and programs that will help you improve your game and have a good time doing it as well. The Family Circle Tennis Center is located at 161 Seven Farms Drive, Charleston, SC 29492 and is open all year long except for the week when the Volvo Cars Open is running. Rates for tennis instructors start at $75 per hour. The ball machine’s rate is $25 an hour.
Out of the many programs offered by the center, this one will interest you. Regardless of your game level—from beginner to advanced levels and anything in between—you’re going to find a program that will help you get better. And because the adult programs are flexible, you can choose to pop in for a fast feed clinic or request a private session. A third option is to take part in a scheduled team clinic. Warm up matches are also available. They last for a half-hour and get you ready for your match. And for those who play tennis as a hobby, you can enroll in one of the Return2Rally clinics. Here you get to refresh your skills and brush up on the basics of the game.
The Family Circle Stadium (better known as the Volvo Cars Stadium) also hosts events all year round such as the Family Circle Cup. These include concerts, special events like cooking contests and others. In 2005, Hootie & the Blowfish recorded their album Live In Charleston in the Center. Other musicians who have performed here include John Mayer, Train, Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, among others. Check the events page on their website for upcoming events.
Family Circle Stadium Pro Shop
Not everyone travels on a vacation packing their tennis rackets and other gear. Luckily, the Pro Shop is there to save the day. The shop is open all year round and offers Dunlop rackets, including the Precision and Srixon frames. You can also find racket bags, tennis balls, and all the accessories you’ll need to enjoy a good game on any of the 17 courts that the Center has. Also, members get a discount at the Pro Shop. Stringing costs half the price for members.
