While the rest of the country begins to settle into chilly nights and impending snows, we in Isle of Palms have the luxury of warmer weather and a tropical touch to all of our seasonal festivities. Read on below to learn more about Isle of Palms’ exciting fall and winter activities!

There’s More to Isle of Palms Than Just the Summer Season

Fall and winter are quieter seasons in Isle of Palms, but that only means that visitors have a better chance than ever to enjoy all of the attractions and festivities that the region has to offer without fighting crowds. Isle of Palms hosts its free annual Halloween Carnival for the early evening hours of October 31st from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, during which children of all ages can enjoy bouncy houses, games, face painting, oodles of Halloween candy, costume contests for different age divisions, temporary tattoos, prizes, and more at the Isle of Palms Recreation Department on 28th Avenue. Another fantastic event held each winter is the Isle of Palms Holiday Street Festival. Taking place on Front Beach from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on the first Saturday of December, this event charges no admission and includes live entertainment, carnival rides, an appearance from Santa Clause, food, drinks, arts, and crafts. Kids can bounce around in a jump castle or have a balloon artist create something from their imagination, and adults can ride the mechanical bull or take pictures together in the photo booth. One of the festival’s highlights is the lighting of a twenty-four foot Christmas tree on Front Beach, which takes place at 5:30pm. In nearby Charleston during the months of November through January, visitors and locals alike can marvel at the spectacle of the Annual Holiday Festival of Lights. During this multi-month event, you and your guests drive through a breathtaking light display, see Santa Claus and his elves at the Winter Wonderland, buy gifts and ornaments, see enormous sand sculptures, eat tasty treats, ride the lighted festival train, and roast marshmallows on a fire pit each night. Hours run from 5:30pm to 10:00pm on Sunday through Thursday and 5:30pm to 11:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
