Boys at Twilight Holding Sparklers in Front of Flag

If you’ve hit the road travelling to one of our SC vacation rentals, you are not alone.  AAA estimates that this year, more South Carolinians than ever will be travelling during the July 4th holiday.  They predict 614,700 residents will travel at least 50 miles from home, and a whopping majority  –  541,000  –  will be driving to get to their Charleston beach house, or wherever they’re headed.

And here’s some good news for those folks, and all of us  –  the average price for a gallon of gas is 95 cents less than it was at this time last year.  Plus, South Carolina traditionally has some of the lowest gas prices in the entire country  –  so there’s yet another reason to visit beach house rentals Charleston SC.

Whether you’ve come to your beach house Charleston from somewhere within the state or from farther off, here are some tips of how to get the most out of your holiday weekend, in three big areas…

It’s at the heart of the July 4th holiday, after all… and this year marks the 6th anniversary of a special way to celebrate: Salute from the Shore  –  where you can show your love of country while also being on the beach itself, just steps from all our luxury beach house rentals SC.

Salute from the Shore is a cool flyover of the South Carolina coastline by current and vintage U.S. military planes.   The flyover will start at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 4th at Cherry Point, SC, just north of Myrtle Beach.  It’ll be led by two F-16s from the 20th Fighter Wing at Shaw Air Force Base.  Vintage planes will include a P-51 Mustang and an F4U Corsair.

The planes will head down the coast and circle around Patriot’s Point in Mount Pleasant before continuing south past Hilton Head.  They’ll travel at different speeds but will be visible along the coast between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.  They’ll be visible from all our rental homes South Carolina, both Isle of Palms vacation rentals and Folly Beach rentals Charleston.

You’re encouraged to show your colors and share your photos and videos.  Just email them to  and tag images with #SalutefromtheShore.

Grilling Out

This is, of course, a big part of any summer holiday, and especially this one.  You’ve heard of the Turkey Hotline at Thanksgiving?  Well, LongHorn Steakhouse is sponsoring the LongHorn Grill Us Hotline during the July 4th weekend.  You can talk live or text with a Grill Master to answer your grilling questions and give you advice on the best way to feed your flock from the barbie.  It’ll be available from now through the 4th from noon till 5:00 p.m.

According to Kurt Hankins, executive chef at LongHorn Steakhouse, “Fourth of July is the biggest grilling holiday of the year, and our extensively trained Grill Masters can help America’s home grillers become grill heroes at their backyard celebrations.”

Just call 1-855-LH-GRILL (1-855-544-7455).  Text LHGRILL to 40679, wait for a response and follow the prompts to get expert grilling tips and live, real-time grilling advice.  Standard messaging, data and texting rates apply.

Of course, what’s the 4th of July without fireworks?  If you’re in a luxury house on Isle of Palms, take note that personal fireworks are not permitted on the island.  But never fear  –  the City of the Isle of Palms will be shooting them off for you.  It’ll take place at 9:15 p.m. at the pier near Front Beach.

So have a safe and happy 4th  –  and remember to contact Exclusive Properties for the very best in Isle of Palms luxury rentals  and Folly Beach rentals Charleston.

All best,
