When you come to stay in a Charleston beach house, you’ve gotta eat.  And thankfully our luxury beach house rentals SC are near some of the best food in the country. The Holy City has fast become a major foodie destination.  Charlestonians have always loved food, and hospitality is a long-ingrained trait around here.  But things have really ramped up as more and more chefs join the scene, and Charleston lands on yet more top ten lists. Witness this fact.  According to Tripadvisor, two of the top ten  -  and four of the top thirteen – restaurants in America are in Charleston.  Charleston was the ONLY city to have more than one in the top ten.  Not New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles… only Charleston.  And wouldn’t you rather be staying in one of our spacious beach rentals Charleston, rather than a tiny motel room in a loud, crowded city? You can read more about the ranking in this blog.

People have long been drawn to Charleston for its history, architecture, gardens, overall charm, and of course the water.  The beaches and barrier islands around Charleston are truly exceptional.  A beach house Charleston is a perfect way to enjoy all of the above, since many of our Isle of Palms luxury rentals are oceanfront. So add to the list of draws, world class cuisine.  People come to stay in SC vacation rentals, namely beach house rentals Charleston SC, just for the food.  One factor that truly ramped up the trend is the annual Charleston Wine + Food Festival.  The 13th installment took place February 28th through March 4th of this year. Well, the numbers are in, and they are pretty incredible.  Talk about setting some records.

  • This year’s festival drew record numbers of out of town visitors -  a total of 13, 780;
  • This is an increase over last year’s tally of 8,442 – representing a growth rate of 61%!
  • Per person spending was $977 – an increase of $154 over last year;
  • Overall economic impact on the area: a cool $15 million.

That is a tremendous growth rate.  The powers-that-be attribute much of the growth to the creative and varied festival lineup of over 100 events. Next year’s festival will take place March 6th through 10th, 2019. It’s not too early to book one of our Isle of Palms vacation rentals for Wine + Food 2019!
