If you’re in a Charleston beach house, you’re on trend.

Speaking of which… Local is all the rage, be it in food (i.e. farm-to-table ingredients on gourmet menus), beverages (e.g., craft beers that are brewed nearby, like the room next door), music, festivals… and they all converge in a cool way this Saturday on a local island.

Each island around Charleston has its own vibe, and Folly is known for its rather laid back, surfer-esque, Edge-of-America-ness.  If you’ve stayed in our Isle of Palms vacation rentals, you know there’s a strong surf scene on the IOP too, but Folly is generally known as surf central around these parts.  It’s also a very low-key, neighborly place.

There’s a cool group  —  Folly Beach Festivals  –  which organizes fun events across the calendar, like the big 40th birthday bash they threw for the town, or the Folly Beach Sea & Sand Festival, Taste of Folly, and Folly Gras.  Nothing like celebrations to help create a nice sense of community  –  both for folks who live there year round, and for visitors staying in rental homes South Carolina.

Although most of our SC vacation rentals are Isle of Palms luxury rentals, and I’ve covered a lot of recent IOP events, we can also hook you up with a great Folly Beach house Charleston.  One plus is that many Folly Beach house rentals Charleston SC are extremely close to the surf  –  basically, you just walk out the back door and onto the sand.   It makes staying in one of the luxury beach house rentals SC particularly relaxing, as you can fall asleep to the rhythmic sound of the waves just outside your window.

Well, Folly’s latest festival is coming up this Saturday, October 22nd, and it looks to be a lot of fun, all for a good cause.  Plus, it’s very on trend: it’s all local.

It’s the 9th Annual Follypalooza street festival extravaganza, and it will take place right near all Folly Beach rentals Charleston (and honestly, it’s really not that far a drive from your luxury house on Isle of Palms).

There will be two stages and six bands, many with Folly roots…

·        Guilt Ridden Troubadour

·        Forty Mile Detour

·        Saluda Shoals

·        Burnt Wood

·        Taco Donkey

·        WPOS

The party kicks off Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on Center Street and lasts till 5:00 p.m.

There will be all kinds of live entertainment, food, and art, with over 50 different vendors and booths…. not to mention carnival games and activities (including a huge inflatable obstacle course), a mechanical bull.

It’s billed as a family-friendly and dog-friendly event, good for all ages in your Charleston beach house.   There will also be a silent auction with super stuff, a date auction, and a 50/50 raffle.

The best news is that all the proceeds go towards helping MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, as well as  local individuals and their families living on Folly who are fighting cancer.  Festival organizers work with a special group named Folly’s Angels to identify those most in need of financial help.

In seven years of the festival, they have raised about $50,000.  They’re looking for their best crowd to date  –  7,000 or so to converge on Center Street.

Entrance to the festival is free, and here’s a website with more details: http://www.follybeachfestivals.com/

And don’t forget, another great event is going on this Saturday, convenient to your Charleston beach house…

Tomorrow — Saturday, October 22nd  at 8:30 a.m. —  is the 18th annual James Island Connector Run.

This represents a date change from years past.  For many years, the race has been run on the first Saturday in November.  Last year, though, the typical date  –  November 7th  –  conflicted with a couple of major events (a Veteran’s Day parade and the Citadel’s homecoming), so the city of Charleston asked organizers to move it a bit earlier.  Check out the earlier blog about connectors for more on the race.

So have fun on Folly… and when you’re searching for the very best in luxury beach house rentals SC, don’t forget to call EP.

All best,
