Staying in beach rentals Charleston this weekend? It’s a great time to grab some beach reading in a fun annual event that supports a great cause.
If you’re in one of EP’s luxury beach house rentals SC right now, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. The beach is covered in an inordinate number of shells, thanks to Hurricane Matthew’s recent visit to the Lowcountry.
One of the most popular and relaxing things to do while staying in a Charleston beach house is to a read a book. Sure, there are more high-tech ways to enjoy a novel - kindle, smartphone, iPad, tablets of all sorts - but sand and electronics don’t usually mix very well.
When it comes right down to it, it’s hard to beat flipping the paper pages of a really engrossing story while taking in the sunshine and all its good vitamin D… either on the beach or while lounging on the deck of a luxury house on Isle of Palms or a Folly Beach house Charleston.
If you’re in one of our SC vacation rentals this weekend, there’s a great opportunity to stock up your winter reading material or get some Christmas gifts - at a great price, and for a worthy cause. It’s the Charleston County Library’s annual fall book sale, also known as “That BIG Book Sale” (or TBBS for short). This is the 35th year it’s taken place.
Here’s some of what you’ll find at the book sale this weekend near our beach rentals Charleston...

They accept cash, checks or major credit cards. It’s sponsored by Friends of the Library (FOL). Proceeds go toward helping the public library do its good work for the community. The folks of FOL pledge a minimum of $100,000 to the library each year, and most of that is raised by their book sales. Charleston County currently has 16 public libraries and more on the way.
The sale takes place at the Omar Shrine Auditorium at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant. It’s located at 176 Patriots Point Road, an easy drive from all our rental homes South Carolina, both Isle of Palms vacation rentals and Folly Beach house rentals Charleston SC.
