Windjammer: An Iconic Bar in Isle of Palms
Located in Isle of Palms, the Windjammer has been the premier beach club of both Isle of Palms and Charleston since its founding in 1972 by the Burgis brothers. Since then, The Windjammer has become the area's leading music venue, bar, party spot, and a place to get good grub. Their outdoor deck overlooks terrific views of the water and the beach volleyball court in the back of the bar makes for fun entertainment when you're not listening to live music. At the Windjammer, you and your guests can order appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, and drinks. Start off with appetizers like buffalo wings, chili made from owner Malcom's recipe, red chili poppers, chicken tenders, cheese sticks, and fried pickles. Hamburgers topped with your choice of cheese, chili, bacon, or another patty will fill you up. A quarter pound all beef hot dog on a hoagie roll makes for a nice alternative. Sandwiches served at The Windjammer include country fried steak sandwiches, barbeque sandwiches with shredded pork, breaded grouper fillet sandwiches, and basics such as ham and Swiss, BLTs, and grilled cheese sandwiches. As far as seafood, the Windjammer offers fried shrimp baskets, peel and eat shrimp, fish and chips, and Alaskan snow crab legs. Wash down your meal with a drink from the bar and you're all set for a great time! The Windjammer is open seven days a week, with daily hours from 11:00am - 1:30am.
